Gophers Look to Out Husk the Huskers

Best Costume in Nebraska....Ever

Out Husk the Huskers...whatever that means. It's the best title I could think of. Happy Halloween, folks. I know it's not actually October 31st, but people say Merry Christmas the day after Thanksgiving, so it works.

We have a big game on our hands this Saturday. Nebraska, coming in after a bye, is looking to continue their dominance over the Gophers. If you didn't know, they have beat us by a combined score of 1,000 points the last 2 years. Look it up, it's fact.

But this is a new year! The Gophers are sitting at 1-2 in the B1G after a semi impressive (I know, I said they would get smoked - I should be more impressed) win over NW last weekend.

Jerry Kill made it to that game by the way. Good to see he is at least feeling better. Just don't rush it Jerry, we need you for the long haul.

The Gophers won that game by using both our QB's. Which is probably best, because if you have seen the pro(?) team here in Minnesota, they can't figure out who to use. Using both at least slows down the, "Why didn't you start (insert name here) instead?" rants. Not to mention, they both did their job pretty well.

They will have to do the same this week if they want to beat one of the top tier teams in the B1G.

Nebraska comes in with a 2-0 B1G record and a #24 ranking. With that they bring a stud running back in Abdullah (816 yds, 6tds) and receiver that could torch our secondary in Enunwa (354 yds, 7tds). Did I mention the Huskers are 10th in the nation in points per game (42.7) while the Gophers sit at 66th in the nation (29.6)?

This has all the makings of a shootout as both teams are ranked 34th and 42nd in the nation in points against. Both well over 20 a game.

If this does turn into a gun slinger battle, look for it to be more of the on the ground version than in the air. Both QB's (that are projected to start) are right around 500 yards passing on the season, which to no ones surprise, isn't a lot.

I really want to pick the Gophers to win this game, but it's just so hard to. But who knows, I was wrong last week. So, if you are betting man, don't take my word.

Huskers - 42, Gophers 24

*Sidenote - We will be at the game Saturday. If you see us walking with microphones, say hi. We would love to interview some fans.*
